THE STYLE
I’m sure many of you know about the Gucci Dionysus bags already and how popular they are! The style is one of the most popular bags of choice for fashion bloggers and women in general, and the shoulder bag style is the most versatile of them all, being seen everywhere. This is the Gucci Dionysus Mini Shoulder Bag which is the smallest version of the classic bags. It comes in a soft taupe suede, but it’s available in loads of different colours and fabrics, including canvas (see here) and leather. It has a square shape with the Dionysus clasp to it, a flap front, and a large chain strap, which is very weighty and sturdy. I’m not sure exactly how much the bag weighs, but it is one of my heavier ones that I own because of the chain and the clasp. It’s absolutely gorgeous though and as bag designs go, I think it’s stunning! It’s definitely one of my favourites! Not only is it a classic that can be worn with everything, but it’s unique and detailed too, so it’s definitely special.
THE HARDWARE/DETAILS
As you can see, the main focus is on the clasp which features the Greek God, Dionysus. It showcases the two mythical creature/dragon heads in a horse shoe shape, which you press the little clip on the side to unlock. It’s a pretty sturdy clasp which shuts and locks down securely, with force, so it wont just pop open. There’s so much detail that’s gone into the carving of this clasp, which shows up in the photos, so it’s definitely a truly unique piece! The chain shoulder strap is made of the same metal, and is long enough to be worn cross-body (more on that below), but also doubles up to make it shorter. It’s made in Italy too, like almost all Gucci products are. It also features an embossed Gucci stamp on the back of the bag. There’s not many other details to it, other than the leather flap underneath the suede flap, which I think gives the bag a gorgeous contrast!
THE INSIDE & THE SUEDE
Now the inside of the bag is really nice! The top photo shows that the front flap lifts up to reveal a secret slip pocket underneath the leather flap, while the main flap opens up to the inside of the bag. I think the secret pocket is really useful if you’ve got some private things to store inside your bag, and I always like it when reviews give details on the hidden things that shops don’t, so I have purposely shown it to you in action. The actual inside of the bag is just one compartment, so there’s no slip pockets or sections inside, but given its size, I don’t think you need any as you wont lose anything inside this bag.
This particular Dionysus Mini Shoulder Bag comes in the Taupe Suede, but it also comes in Black Suede in this version. There’s multiple sizes of this style too and the larger version is probably what you’ve seen more of (see here), but since we are talking about smaller bags, It’s a cow suede so it’s pretty robust and sturdy, not resulting in much damage when it’s worn, however the chain does leave marks on it if it’s pressed against the back of the bag. The Taupe shade is a beautiful brown, which has mousey undertones to it, but it’s a warm brown that goes with everything. So easy to wear.
THE SIZE & PRICE
Now this bag, as mentioned, is the Mini version, so it’s suitable for shoulder and cross-body and can be worn comfortably without it overwhelming your frame. The height is 15cm or 6″, the width is 20cm or 8″, the depth is 6cm or 2.5″, and the chain length is 124cm or 49″, so you can see it’s a really nice size for a compact bag. 8″ is actually a very common size for bags like this. If you’re looking for a petite bag that’s got everything you need to carry your essentials, and looks amazing, this is it!
It does retail for quite a bit of money though, it costs £1180, but there’s often discount codes sometimes for places that might stock it. It’s not as expensive as the bigger versions though, and not as cheap as the canvas ones as those retail for about £1020.
4 WAYS TO WEAR IT
Now there’s 4 ways to wear this bag and that’s what made us love it even more! The chain is long enough to be worn as a cross-body, so it sits completely over your torso from shoulder to the opposite hip, and the bag itself sits around your lap, in the perfect place. You can then either take it off cross-body and choose to wear it full length on one shoulder, making it longer than cross-body, or you can double the chain up and wear it on your shoulder as a much shorter bag (demonstrated above). This doubled up method is also great for carrying on the crook of your arm or in your hand as it wont drag on the floor. It’s the perfect size for all of these 4 ways to wear it and it’s the most versatile to go with anything you want to wear. you can wear it with jeans and a t-shirt or shirt to make it more glam, or it goes just as easily with dresses! It’s perfect!
OVERALL OPINION
Honestly, as we are sure you can tell, it couldn’t be a more perfect size, the design is flawless and so beautiful it makes you want to cuddle it, the colour and the suede is fantastic… There’s no faults to report! And the fact you can wear it multiple ways means you essentially have 4 bags in one! What more can you want? It is quite expensive, but if you were to compare it to the price of Chanel, Louis Vuitton or Celine etc, it’s definitely on the cheaper end and completely worth the money in comparison as the quality is second to none. we just know you will love it if you’re in the market for a new bag. Make it this one!
